Physical properties of active biopolymer films based on chitosan, sodium caseinate, and rosemary essential oil

To develop an active biopolymer film based on chitosan, sodium caseinate, and rosemary essential oil (REO), the objective of this work was to investigate effect REO structure physical properties films. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy conducted for fingerprinting identify addition. The thermal behaviour each investigated using a thermogravimetric analysis. Furthermore, optical properties, surface hydrophobicity, solubility, mechanical water vapour permeability were investigated. results showed that presence changes structural organisation blended caseinate chitosan film, thereby inducing increase in hydrophilicity film. However, solubility not affected by modification induced REO. Moreover, mild caseinate/chitosan observed. A analysis confirmed incorporation did influence degradation temperature Overall studying has demonstrated enriched REO, related his chemico can be applied food packaging application.
